Rules Grammar Change!

2. August 2008

No more will rules English follow. This by Onion the today announced was [Languagehat via]!

New nothing to me, idea had Master Yoda in the 70s this already. Look (inversion no here):

Also nothing new me to is, German of speaker am I because. Always invert we everything. Even worse in Latin is. Romans freaky.

Edit: Announcement the Onion’s contained also the hint that these rules Grammar changed based on Old English are. In the comments found I a link to Karl Hagen’s medievalist (serious) description of syntactic differences between present-day English and Old English. Quite interesting since many of the used in Old English principles still in contemporary German exist.
